Best Blog Platform - How do Google Blogger BlogSpot Blogs stack up?

People will read your posts. What will be your primary tool or blogging platform? There are many, but Blogger, Wordpress, and Movable Type are the most popular.

First, very importantly here, is the fact that Blogger is one of the most viable solutions for a full featured, simple, and free bogging experience for the weblog author. Blogger is definitely not the only free platform, but it has the big guns of Google behind it. If you like Google, you will probably like Blogger Blogspot as well, and the converse is also true.

Blogger Blogs definitely have their fair share of the most profitable, popular, etc.. blog creations out there, so don't even think that you are running on an inferior platform. It is all about preference.

Interesting story on WordPress though;
WebProNews reports that that Bankaholic.com, a WordPress blog run by Johns Wu (alone) is selling for $15 million to BankRate!
It is speculated that Johns had been working on the blog for only a short time.

Also remember that an average Blog may take around 8 months to propagate itself on the web to where it will show up in some of the places where you want it, and also to where a decent amount of money might flow in on your behalf.

Rest assured that your Blogger Blog is indexed under the power of Google and the speed shows. Only Yahoo is comparatively slow to pick them up, so do more work on your Yahoo presence.

While your blog is building momentum you will have plenty of time to iron out your creation (which might include changing platforms). Don't let the time factor (until it is properly indexed) be a disappointment though, because one thing is almost always true, during this time you must make at least a post or two a week or you risk the Blog floating away into oblivion (some say dedicate at least an hour or two a day to it). You'll have some fun along the way if you have things that you want to share via the internet.

The rules are pretty simple and common sense with your Blogger Blog and they can be reviewed by following this link.

Basically no hard core porno, extreme hate or violence, or major copyright infringements.

If you stray over the line there will often be a series of warning set up for your site. If you go way over the line, you will be banned, but probably allowed to retrieve your content for use elsewhere. If it is something insane the authorities could get involved. Don't worry, they allow some pretty far out thinking.

A main concern with these rules or conditions though would be a suspension of your Google AdSense account, as Google will pull the ads if your site is out of bounds, and we are here to make some money, and AdSense is a good money-maker, so, familiarize your self with the rules.

Here are a few of the more popular Blogger Blogs:

Post-Secret - reader secrets on post cards

The Sartorialist - Time Magazine award winner

Dark Roasted Blend - Weird stuff

Gorilla Vs. Bear - Music Blog

Bitch Ph.D - Name says alot

Mish's Global Economic Trend Analysis - Again, it's in the name

Face Hunter - A London man and his camera

One negative of Blogger might be that it is more limited in how far you can stretch the design. There are fewer radically different templates available. Decide if it is for you.

If you think it is easy to destroy your layout in Blogger, on some of the other platforms a wrong move in your design might be similar to  swiping a nearly complete jigsaw puzzle off the table into a million pieces. Blogger is simpler! Know that and work within the parameters. We always try to remember "KISS = keep it simple stupid".
